Joint Pains

Disc Diseases

Disc disease is an age-related condition that happens when one or more of the discs between the vertebrae of the spinal column deteriorates or breaks down, leading to pain. Disc disease is not a disease, but a natural occurrence that comes with aging. The rubbery discs between the vertebrae normally allow for flexing and bending of the back, like shock absorbers. In time, they become worn, and they no longer offer as much protection as before. Disc degeneration may cause no symptoms, or the pain may be so intense that the individual cannot continue with their daily activities.

Spondylitis is a general term for age related wear and tear affecting the spinal disks in the neck. It is a condition involving changes to the bones,discs,joints of the neck. It worsens with age.There also appears to be a genetic component involved because some families will have more of these changes over time,while other will develop less. Vertebrae are bones that join together to form the entire backbone.In between the vertebrae are cushion like structures called “intervertebral discs”.Age related wear and tear can cause the joints between the vertebrae to degenerate.It causes pain in affected region.When the nerve roots start getting pressed ,it can lead to symptoms of nerve compression.
